Old Blind Contour Drawings



I found some old photos of blind contour drawings I used to do from a deleted Instagram account. This was actually a nice exercise. I would wake up every morning and do one on a page. It was just a nice way to start the day.

I'm not an Island.

(This is from an old IG post. I transferred it here and reworded it a bit.) We did these today at work as part of our school festival celebration.  We're supposed to see an image which arose from a question we had in mind while forming these.  I think I see an island, which is weirdly connected to my own answer to the question I held in mind which was, "What obstacles hinder you from bringing yourself to the light?"  Sometimes in our lives, we can be very fearful of how people react to the things we say or do, which hinder our journeys towards the light. I know my own journey has been mired in quicksand ever since I began to have the voices of very judgmental imaginary people in my head. I let these voices take over and control what words and images I would allow myself to release to the world.  Even now, I feel panicky inside when I think of being honest or vulnerable. 14 Day Isolated Art Challenge during Covid - OLD IG PHOTOS

I did these just when Covid had began. Struthless had talked about it on Youtube, and I joined him and many others on Instagram. I started off strong I think, with my redone Pleasantville poster. But I quickly figured out that using pencil took too long, and started using pens instead. Hahaha, by the last day, I was done and just sketched my face. Doing this art challenge was nice. I didn't have work to do because we were all fresh into quarantine, so instead of spending my time listening to more bad news on TV or getting depressed on Facebook, I made art instead.
